It's coming to the end of the year. Only fifteen days until Christmas and then after that New Year, where most likely you will set a New Year resolution and with in a month, you will have thrown the resolution out the window, either not having tried to achieve it, or tried and failed.
That says nothing about you. It's normal. It's ok. Because maybe you're not ready to achieve that goal, or maybe you didn't really know how to achieve that goal.
So if you have something you want to achieve. Set your resolution now. Ideally you'll start working on it straight away, or be prepped and ready to in January.
Maybe you want to lose weight, run a marathon (or just start running/exercising), eat healthier etc. Before you decide what your New Year resolution is, ask yourself - 'How committed on a scale of 1 - 10 (1 being the lowest and 10 - I'm going to start now) are you to achieve the goal. Be honest with yourself. If it is a 6 or below. Ask yourself why you want to achieve that goal. The why is critical. It's what reminds you why you are doing what you are doing. If you're saying you 'should' because x, y, z says I should, then maybe it's not the goal for you.
If you're a 7 or above. What would get you to a 10 to want to achieve the goal?
Now is the time to break the goal down. Did you say you want to lose weight? How much? By when? You need to have asked and answered these questions, because I want to loose weight is a statement. Not a goal.
E.g. I want to loose weight. OR I want to lose 5kg by the end of April. Which one do you think you'll achieve?
Now add in the why. Why do you want to do it. It's important to understand this. Is it: for health reasons, you want to look better in jeans. You hate how you look now. It is important to understand why, otherwise achieving the goal can be difficult. Now you have a specific goal and the why you want to achieve it.
Once you have these elements, you can start understanding and planning how you are going to achieve your goal (which I'll cover in a later post).
